WHAT IS TAE KWON DO
Olympic sport since 1994.

THE ART OF TAE KWON DO

Tae Kwon Do is the name of the martial art that was created in Korea and developed over the course of many decades. However, due to the suppression of Korean culture during the Korean War, Tae Kwon Do was not introduced to the United States and athletic community until the late 1950's. By this time, the word "Karate" had become the generic term for the martial arts. Although Tae Kwon Do is now practiced by more people than all of the other martial arts combined, it is still referred to as "Korean Karate". Tae Kwon Do has endured its reputation for centuries and is currently experiencing rapid growth because of its multitude of benefits that can be enjoyed by all people regardless of age, sex, and culture. Today, Tae Kwon Do is being taught and practiced in over 170 countries.

WHAT IS
TAE KWON DO?

Tae Kwon Do is an action philosophy, the Korean art of self-defense. When translated, it literally means "foot, hand, mind."

However it is much more than kicking and punching. It is designed as a nonviolent art system of entire body practice and a way of life. It includes physical and mental discipline with a deep philosophy. Through practice and consistent training, all practitioners can benefit physically, mentally, and philosophically.
